My Story

Educational Philosophy

At Dual Minds Integrative Psychiatry, Chief David A. Armstrong (Ret.) brings a distinguished career in law enforcement, public administration, and education to his philosophy of teaching and leadership. His approach is grounded in Maslow’s Theory of Self-Actualization, emphasizing that individuals thrive when they are given clear pathways for growth, purpose, and achievement. He believes that in public service - where the opportunity to give back is central - success is achieved through dedication, hard work, and a commitment to serving others. For Dave, it is a mutually reinforcing process: when individuals are supported in reaching their potential, communities become stronger and more resilient.

Personal Inspiration

Dave’s lifelong commitment to service was shaped by his father, who modeled humility, hard work, and compassion for those in need. Growing up with an awareness of the resilience forged during the Great Depression, he learned early that integrity and service to others are foundational values. His father’s influence remains central to his work, particularly his dedication to supporting children and individuals with special needs. Over the years, his work with Life Skills students has been especially meaningful, reinforcing his belief that every individual deserves dignity, encouragement, and the opportunity to succeed.

Education and Professional Experience

Chief David A. Armstrong (Ret.) has built a robust academic and professional foundation in criminal justice, public administration, security, and leadership. His credentials include:

  • Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Anna Maria College

  • Master’s Degree in Public Administration, Clark University

  • Certificate in Private Security, Northeastern University

  • Graduate, FBI National Academy (245th Session, hosted at the University of Virginia)

His career in law enforcement and education has been defined by leadership, mentorship, and a commitment to developing others through structure, accountability, and support.

Current Focus

In his continued work in education and community service, Dave remains focused on leadership development, mentoring, and helping individuals realize their potential.
